Rhinoplasty at the University of Ottawa
Nose reshaping, also known as rhinoplasty, can address a variety of aesthetic concerns such as prominence, shape, size, proportion, and symmetry of the nose. These concerns, which may be congenital or the result of injury, can be both an aesthetic concern and a functional impediment. During an in-depth consultation, the patient’s health and medical history will be reviewed to ascertain their surgical candidacy. Aesthetic objectives and functional restoration will also be discussed in order to create an ideal treatment plan. A rhinoplasty procedure involves accessing the underlying soft tissues and nasal framework composed of bone and cartilage and correcting them as needed. This can result in a nose with improved function which may also be more aesthetically pleasing. Patients under the care of plastic surgeons at the University of Ottawa will be informed on what to expect pre-, during and post operation to ensure their comfort, safety and optimal recovery.
